Sol Meliá Cuba hotels are operating stably

"Our hotels and resorts are opened and operating both normally and stably for the benefit of those who choose our facilities as the destination for an unforgettable holiday experience", affirmed Gabriel Garcia Llabres, Marketing and Sales Manager of the Sol Meliá Cuba Division.
The senior executive conveyed an objective, responsible and honest message to operators, travel agents, airline officials, members of the specialized media, partners and especially to clients regarding the actual situation of the hotels managed by Sol Meliá in Cuba, a few days after the country was hit by hurricane Ike.
He also indicated that immediately after the storm, a complete and factual assessment was carried out of the damages to each of the 24 hotels and resorts operated by Sol Meliá.
He indicated that: "In most cases damages were minor, and quickly repaired while in others, they have either been resolved or will soon be, since a great deal of human effort and financial resources have been devoted to this endeavor and the provision of supplies has been guaranteed".
"The problems which are still pending do not prevent the normal functioning of our facilities" he added.
"This quick recovery has been possible thanks to the dedication of our staff, which worked hard to repair the damages as soon as possible, thus minimizing the discomfort to our clients", affirmed Gabriel Garcia.
"If Sol Meliá was proud of its workers before, I can assure you that today the company feels greater respect for them since they are our hotels' most important asset, its greatest patrimony and best investment."

He also informed that the first priority was to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the tourists and that thanks to Cuba's experience in the management tropical hurricanes and dedication to the preservation of human lives; it was possible to guarantee that everyone remain safe and sound.
In reference to the situation in the different tourist destinations, he indicated that the hotels in Havana and Santiago de Cuba were operating without major problems.
"Our eight resorts in Varadero continue offering their usual services as the damages there were minimal and did not affect the facilities."
"The hotels in the keys have completely restored their operations and services, taking into account that the problems still pending are minor", he said.
He also underlined that the damages to the infrastructure in
Cayo Santa Maria, Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo, such as the causeway, telephone lines, water supply and airport services in Cayo Largo were restored in record time".
The damages caused by hurricane Gustav at the end of August were also repaired in no time.
"Sol Rio de Luna y Mares in en Holguín continues to receive clients in its Mares section since the damages there did not prevent the hotel from functioning", expressed Sol Meliá Cuba's Commercial Manager, who added that that Rio de Luna was undergoing a mayor refurbishment and investment process since May.
At the moment, Paradisus Rio de Oro is closed due to the impact of hurricane Ike on Holguín province. The property is currently undergoing repairs and should be completely operational by the coming 2008-2009 winter season", he said.
He also added that by then, Sol Pelicano in Cayo Largo and Sol Cayo Guillermo, temporarily closed for general maintenance since the beginning of summer and before the arrival of hurricanes Ike and Gustav, would also recommence operations.
"By the coming high season, Sol Meliá Cuba's product will have been completely refurbished , renewed and rejuvenated, in keeping with the highest international standards, for the purpose of surpassing our clients' expectations", affirmed Gabriel Garcia.
