We stayed here on the advice of our travel agent who both specializes in travel to Cuba and is Cuban herself. We found it very comfortable and modern with efficient, courteous staff. The grounds were beautiful, with shops, and a variety of restaurants surrounding a quiet, spacious multi-level pool in palm studded garden. We ate breakfast and dinner in the buffet restaurant and were quite satisfied with our meals and the professional service. The hotel had been recomended in part so that my partner, a vegetarian, would have a wider choice of foods. Lots of fruit, which he loved, but it was still a challenge for him, just as it was in our beach resort in Holguin, because there is so much meat. He was glad he brought his own non-meat protein foods. I was glad to have the email facilities in their business centre. There is a nightclub on the top floor with Tropicana-style shows but it was expensive and a pale imitation of the real Tropicana Santiago. It wasn't far by taxi to the old downtown with its wandering troubadors and fabulous old architecture. The tree-shaded pre-revolution mansion district is within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We stopped off for one night after a gruelling 300 mile car journey. The Service was good and efficient, although the porter specifically requested a tip. The choice of cable channels was a bit limited.
The breakfast was fantastic and the main restaurant was beautiful. This is a good hotel, although a bit expensive for what it offers.

My husband and I stayed at the Melia Santiago as part of our honeymoon after spending 6 nights at the Melia Cayo Coco. We found the staff at the Melia Santiago much more friendly and helpful than at the Melia Cayo Coco where you only seemed to get a smile if you tipped!
The rooms at the Melia Santiago where very comfortable and the food and service were excellent (by Cuban standards). We very pleased to retire to the comfort of our hotel after spending the day sightseeing and being harassed by hustlers and streethawkers...

My wife and I visited this hotel for a three day period in April 2004 during our second twin centre vacation in Cuba, the first being in 2002.
Our experience of this hotel was one of it being on the expensive side but it was value for money with all of its services of a very high standard.
It was a pefect base for exploring the city and to return to it and use its facilities late afternoon was a joy.
